Free 'Limbaugh Legacy Potato Top' tomato plants at Soergel's

Written by Doug Oster on .

Every year Soergel's Orchards in Franklin Park grows out thousands of 'Limbaugh Legacy Potato Top' tomato plants for my PG/Backyard Gardener Plant Swap and Giveaway.

There's about 200 left at the garden center. They will give one per family while they last and then will offer them for sale too once you get the free one.

The tomato was introduced to me by the late Fred Limbaugh who gave it away to friends and family for decades. Here's the back story, regular readers of this blog have it memorized.

The Pittsburgh heirloom tomato is a big, meaty, pink beefsteak filled with old-fashioned flavor. It's a late tomato, so grow some other varieties too.

The plants growing at Soergel's this year are the biggest we've ever given away.

Give them a call first to be sure there's still plants left, 724-935-2090.
