Forest Hills Plant Sale on Thursday 5/3 and Saturday 5/5
The Garden Club of Forest Hills will hold its annual plant auction from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Hope Lutheran Church, Ridge Avenue and Braddock Road, Forest Hills. A variety of plants, mostly perennials, from members' gardens will be auctioned as will contributions from local garden shops and businesses. Event coordinator Dorothy Buchanan promises some good buys, even mystery plants, and lots of fun. The auction is open to all. Bidding will begin promptly at noon.
Two days later, on Saturday, May 5, the Forest Hills club will sponsor a sale of greenhouse-grown perennials and herb plants. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- rain or shine -- at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, Ardmore Boulevard, and the Forest Hills Municipal Building lot. Many of these plants will be new or unusual varieties. Buyers may also get growing tips from garden club members.
Proceeds from both events will support garden club programs, scholarships and contributions to non-profit groups involved with the greening of Western Pennsylvania.
