I wrote about clean air plants in the Post-Gazette last year here. Be sure to watch the video to the right, it's an interview with Kelly Ogrodnik Phipps' sustainable design and programs manager. She's done a lot of research about what's in our air and how plants can filter the bad stuff. You might remember her from this post about an interesting proposal of marriage.
