The view from the balcony

Written by Mackenzie Carpenter on .

Here in the Foreign Press Association's press room, the BBC is on the telly, and we're all waiting for the balcony appearance. Methinks the Duchess of Cambridge has her work cut out for her, if she has to deal with people like Sir Malcolm Ross, GCVO, OBE (i.e., a Buckingham Palace courtier), who is being asked by the incredibly obsequious BBC Presenter Huw Edwards what it is like to stand on the Palace's balcony.

Sir Malcolm, who is in full morning suit and has an enormous white rose in his lapel, says it's very nice. One wants to just muss his hair up a bit.
