Day of Caring can mean more

Written by Lizabeth Gray on .

pghfoundationlogoWednesday, Oct. 13 is a very famous day in Pittsburgh history as we celebrate game 7 of the 1960 World Series and the amazing Mazeroski's home run that charged the city into a giant celebration and continues to fascinate us 50 years later. Wednesday is also a day when we can celebrate by giving to the nonprofits throughout our city that are doing great work everyday to help our environment, our urban forest and our world in general.

PittsburghGives is an initiative of The Pittsburgh Foundation and for one day only, every contribution you make to your favorite environmental nonprofit will be matched by them. You have 24 hours to give; credit card gifts only and really important ... online giving only. Starting tonight at midnight you can go online and make your money count for even more as there is a matching pot of $500,000 out there. All contributions made in this 24 hour period will receive a portion of the matching dollars.

So get out your charitable mood, go online and do some good ... and double it. Here are the rules and the list of environmental organizations that you can help in a big way today.
