Consol Energy opener: Will it be McCartney?
As The Beatles once sang, "I gotta feeling!..."
I gotta feeling we're going to get a Paul McCartney date here sometime this summer.
The "cute" Beatle is on the road right now and, amazingly, hasn't played here since 1990. One of the issues with his tour several years ago was that his stage set up was too heavy for the Mellon Arena.
With the new arena debuting in August, he'd be a fitting choice for the first concert (thus far, Lady Gaga has been announced for September).
Or will he land at one of the stadiums? Word on the streets is everyone wants Paul here this summer.
The beauty of it all is that he's on a serious Beatles kick at the moment, as he showed in his tour opener in Phoenix on Sunday night.
Former PG pop critic Ed Masley wrote "He was nearing the three-hour mark when he blew the dust off a ferocious 'Helter Skelter' for the second encore, screaming like he hadn't aged a day since 1968..."
