'Deuce' doc times two
You'll have a pair of chances to see "Deuce," which seems only fitting.
The documentary about Lawrence "Deuce" Skurcenski, a fixture at Pittsburgh area high school and college sporting events for more than 50 seasons, will be shown Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Regent Square Theater in Edgewood. You can meet Deuce at a 7 p.m. reception and listen to filmmakers Joseph and Mark Graziano field questions afterward.
For tickets, $8, go to http://www.proartstickets.org and click on Nov. 11.
"Deuce" also will be shown Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the SouthSide Works Cinema. For those tickets, $10.75, go to http://www.southsideworks.com and click on the movietickets.com box to buy seats.
As statistician for the WPIAL and PIAA, Skurcenski has witnessed more than 9,000 basketball games and more than 3,000 football contests. The movie features lots of famous faces, from Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch to Pitt football coach Dave Wannstedt and Steelers play-by-play announcer Bill Hillgrove.
The soundtrack features tracks from Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa. Movie runs 72 minutes, by the way.
