Girl With Dragon Tattoo: Proceed with caution

If you haven't seen "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," I would like to share part of an email from a reader.

She had not read the book (nor have I) but two friends had and, based on their recommendation and my review, went to to see the Swedish-language film.

She was taken aback by the violence and said "if I had realized that about 45 percent of the movie had ugly and disturbing and bizarre scenes, I would never have paid to see this. Apparently, the scenes were not so graphic in the book."

Or maybe it's different watching them on screen. So, it bears repeating that the movie is not rated but is a very, very strong R in nature for graphic violence including rape. Many scenes are indeed disturbing.
