Damian Saunders -- The Pittsburgh Stealer
By Colin Dunlap | 4:09 p.m. Monday
According to NCAA stats released this afternoon, Duquesne's Damian Saunders leads the nation with a 2.9 steals per game average.
- Saunders' 80 steals (in 28 games) is already a DU single-season record, breaking the mark of 71 he set last year in 34 games.
- Saunders, who has 196 career steals, needs six to pass current
Washington Wizards guard Mike James and move into the No. 3 spot on DU's
career list.
- Saunders currently ranks fifth nationally in double-doubles (18), fifth in rebounding (11.4) and ninth in blocks (3.3).
**NOTE** -- I cannot take credit for the ultra-crafty "Pittsburgh Stealer" tag. Duquesne sports information sensei Dave Saba was the brains behind crafting that masterful phrase.
