Great moments in traffic reporting

McArdle Roadway on Mount Washington was closed for a time Monday morning by a mudslide. Traffic reports on TV and radio dutifully noted this ... and kept on noting it.

The road reopened at about 11 a.m. I drove it around noon and while in the car heard a radio report that the road was "closed in both directions." News to us.

But the real kicker came at 6:45 p.m. as I was driving home and heard another station report that the road was closed.

Gotta take those traffic reports with a grain of road salt.
