Pitt's No. 1 critic is coming to town

Written by Paul Zeise on .

Pitt receives lots of love from most of the college basketball analysts that work in television. ESPN's Jay Bilas has been on the Pitt bandwagon for a while as has Bill Raftery and Fran Fraschilla. But one analyst who has been slow to come around to the Panthers is former Oklahoma State guard Doug Gottlieb, who will provide the color commentary Wednesday night during Pitt's nationally televised contest against Siena on ESPN2.

Pitt was a consensus top 10 team in all major polls before the season, but in Gottlieb's Week 1 power rankings he failed to include Pitt in his top 25. Has has since come around and currently has the Panthers at No. 4 in the latest power rankings. Gottlieb has also been a vocal skeptic of the Panthers in seasons past.

Gottlieb catches a break in his visit to the Petersen Events Center because school is not in session and he won't feel the full brunt of the Oakland Zoo.

Here is the link to the ESPN week 1 power rankings. See Gottlieb's picks to the far right.
