Well, it isn't a Division I-AA team....

Written by Paul Zeise on .

Pitt announced its future football schedules today (non-conference games only) and the long awaited question of "who will they get to fill that non-conference spot next year" has been answered.....

Florida International -- without Isiah Thomas, I presume.

Ok, so it isn't exactly like bringing in Florida State, though I suppose Florida Internaitonal (which is 3-8 this year and competes in the Sun Belt) would likely beat the Seminoles this year since every other team in Florida seems to have, but at least the Panthers avoided that dreaded two Division I-AA thing they were flirting with for a while.

Here is the rest of what it will look like between now and 2014......

    * In 2010, the Panthers will play New Hampshire (Sept. 4th), at Utah (Sept. 11th), Miami (Sept. 25th), Florida International (Oct. 2nd) and at Notre Dame (Oct. 9th).

    * In 2011, the Panthers will play Buffalo (Sept. 3rd), Maine (Sept. 10), at Iowa (Sept. 17th), Notre Dame (Sept. 24th) and Utah (Oct. 15th)

     * In 2012, the Panthers will play Central Florida (Sept. 8th), Virginia Tech (Sept. 15th), at Buffalo (Oct. 6th) and at Notre Dame (Nov. 3rd). There is one open date for this year which still needs to be filled - Sept. 1st.

     * In 2013, Villanova (Aug. 31st), at Virginia Tech (Sept. 14th), N.C. State (Sept. 21st), at Navy (Oct. 26th) and Notre Dame (Nov. 9th).
