Around the Big East -- 10/24/09

The first thing that jumped out at me about the day in the conference, outside of the game I covered in Morgantown, was the guy pictured above (wearing a visor in Western Pennsylvania. On a cloudy day. In October) bringing his team North and getting absolutely slammed by Pitt. I think that score, not so much that Pitt won -- after all they were ranked and USF wasn't -- but the way the Panthers blasted the Bulls, might have awkened some people up to just how good Pitt is.
I made a prediction heading into the season that Pitt and WVU would both go into the Backyard Brawl undefeated in the conference. That is still, even at this point, probably a long shot, but I am sticking to it.
Onto the games today:
Pitt 41, South Florida 14
> The first four words of the Tampa Tribune story: "The defense has disappeared"
Cincinnati 41, Louisville 10
> Louisville has lost eight in a row in the conference
Syracuse 28, Akron 14
> A win over Akron? I don't know ... I'm not impressed, but here's the story
