Made it to the seat in the press box.
By the way, if you are going to place a wager on this game (legally, in Nevada, of course) here's a tip: It is rainy and windy...more windy than rainy.
10:37 a.m.: One small logistical gripe about things. Here you go, I'll be brief: The parking lots here are denoted by letter, as in 'Parking Lot B' or 'Parking Lot F' and so on. This makes things tough because people, when they need to make split decisions, comprehend a sign slowly that reads: "Lots F-P." To that point, these lots should be denoted by number.
Also, when you denote them by letter, don't you limit the lots to 26?
I don't know, just a small gripe.
11:27 a.m.: By the way, saw the Gov. a few times during the week -- Joe Manchin. Guy has been flying around, police-escort style. He loves him some spotlight.
11:31 a.m.: Still rainy and windy. Not a good thing for the West Virginia special teams which struggle to begin with.
11:43 a.m.: The Mountaineers will be wearing a 'CH' sticker on their helmets to celebrate the life of Chris Henry.
12:13 p.m.: You see the craziest things just hanging around press boxes. You know, kind of like random sound dishes sitting on the floor:
12:37 p.m.: West Virginia is wearing yellow jerseys on top of white pants; Florida State has red tops, gold pants.
12:46 p.m.: The teams just came together at midfield and yelled and screamed at each other. You know how those things go down, no one really wants to fight (unless The U is involved), instead, they just want to yell. You will see it on the telecast, to be certain.
12:56 p.m.: Bowden just made his way onto the field w/ his wife Ann. He is standing watching a video tribute to himself right now.
1:07 p.m.: The guy on the horse is about to throw that flaming spear in the ground...and we are about to start. WVU will receive.
1:23 p.m.: That looked pretty easy, huh? 7-0 WVU. Maybe the Noles really are a 6-6 team.
1:31 p.m.: FSU is marching the ball, answering WVU. But, do you think Robert Sands can hit? Jeeeez!
1:40 p.m.: Devine had a 70 yard gain and the Mountaineers are looking to make it 14-3. I don't know how many 50+ yard carries he has, but he might lead the country.
1:47 p.m.: WVU up 14-3 on a short TD from Devine. Upon scoring, Devine pointed to the FSU sideline at Deion Sanders.
1:56 p.m.: 14-3 end of 1....longest quarter in world history.
2:07 p.m.: FSU brings out a trick play, a reverse to the motion guy. The Noles are at the 25, going in. Seems as if they have, now, overtaken the momentum.
2:15 p.m.: Something I noticed. This stadium has a big replay board on each end...guess that is one thing it has going for it.
2:20 p.m.: And Noel Devine has 127 yards with 9:45 left before halftime.
2:37 p.m.: FSU just kicked a field goal to cut it to 14-13 at the half. After the third down play, there was 42 seconds (or thereabouts) left. A question, should Stewart have called one of his two timeouts? He will now take two of them into the locker room.
2:43 p.m.: Jarrett Brown did not take that final snap of the half, Geno Smith did. Brown was taken to the locker room with an injured ankle just before the half. A status on his return is unknown right now, as we are in halftime.
2:57 p.m.: Nothing definite on Brown's return, yet.
3:06 p.m.: They say Brown is no doubtful...expect Geno.
3:12 p.m.: Geno it is.
3:16 p.m.: Why are they not just handing it, over and over and over to Devine?
3:26 p.m.: Still 16-14 FSU. Don't know what is going to happen, but I think, from here on out, you have to hang this one on Devine -- give it to him 12784902387182374 times if you have to.
3:30 p.m.: As I was walking in today, I never thought Geno Smith would throw a pass for Carmen Connolly. But that just happened.
3:36 p.m.: Yikes. FSU ahead 23-14 after a WVU punt and quick-strike FSU score. Some of the media are starting to question WVU's playcalling.
3:48 p.m.: The ultra-efficient Ryan Clarke just scored...the shootout is absolutely on right now. FSU 23, WVU 21. Here we go, will be a tremendous fourth quarter -- if West Virginia just plays within themselves, rather than trying to do too much.
3:58 p.m.: Florida State scored to go up 30-21. That is the bad thing if you are West Virginia. What could, possibly, be good, if you are West Virginia, is that EJ Manuel looks dinged up.
4:10 p.m.: WVU didn't hit on a fourth down. They are down, 30-21 with 6:28 left....doesn't look good. If I'm a betting man, I say this one is over.
5:39 p.m.: Just got back from the media stuff. 33-21. I will update the blog more when I get back to hotel later.
