New search engine

Written by Ced Kurtz on .

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a column stressing that there are more search engines out there than just Google.

A new one has appeared called viewzi. It is in beta and is sometimes slow. Plus it uses a lot of Flash, so don't have it disabled.

The site does not use it own search database but pulls from others like Google. Its uniqueness is in the way it presents results, just as with clusty, which I mentioned in my column.

I heard an interview with people from viewzi who said that the idea is that at some point anyone would be able to build a view, sort of a wiki search engine. But even in beta, it is interesting.
