Merry Christmas to all
Every year I select one Christmas card among the usual pile we receive and I declare to Mrs. H that this is the best one of the season.
To mark this holiday, I thought I'd share this choice with you. Actually, the winner this year was the winner last year - my old mate "Olly," who lives on the New South Wales-Queensland border, an area in Australia where the big surf rolls in on miles of golden beaches.
I love this card because it reminds me that somewhere this Christmas season it is summer and the sun is shining and the ocean is blue.
I love this card because it is a reminder that there is life after journalism. Olly is a former journalist about my age who once shared an apartment with me when we were young and frisky. He is now retired to a life of surfing. As you can see, he is still frisky.
As my ambitions run more to sailing and fishing than surfing, his life is not my ideal but close enough for retirement work. Actually, I am not planning to retire for a few years yet but in this business I could be at the beach sooner rather than later. I look at this card and realize that when I do go it won't be a tragedy.
Thank you all who come to this blog - thank you all for your interest and comments. No Reg has ever had such a band of Reg-ulators.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
