Penguins

-The Penguins are still being kind of wishy-washy on Jordan Staal's (above) status (PG+).

-Several of the Penguins are high on new NHLPA boss Donald Fehr.

-Dan Bylsma speaks:

-Casey Pierro-Zabotel had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-2 loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones.

-Penguins defensive prospect Alex Velischek has joined the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL. Velischek was a fifth-round pick in 2009.

Atlantic Division

-With Brian Boucher on a hot streak and rookie Sergei Bobrovsky's surprising play, goaltender Michael Leighton (right), who led the Flyers to a Stanley Cup run last season, is a forgotten man in Philadelphia.

Northeast Division

-The Senators recalled goaltender Mike Brodeur from Binghamton of the AHL.

Southeast Division

-Two goals by Mathieu Perreault led the Capitals to a 3-2 win at Ottawa. Teammate Eric Fehr added a goal and an assist while Michal Neuvirth made 24 saves in the victory which snapped an eight-game losing streak.

-"It felt like we won a championship, it's been so long since we've won. It's a great feeling." - Perreault.

-The Hurricanes demoted defenseman Bryan Rodney to Charlotte of the AHL.

Central Division

-Captain Jonathan Toews had a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks in a 3-2 win against the Kings. Teammate Patrick Sharp recorded two assists while Corey Crawford made 26 saves in the victory. Wayne Simmonds had a goal and an assist for Los Angeles.

-It wasn't all bad for Los Angeles. Check out this goal by Kings forward Kyle Clifford:

-Happy times in Chicago:

-Chicago's John Scott and Los Angeles' Kevin Westgarth had issues:

-Chicago's Brian Campbell and Los Angeles' Alec Martinez kicked up some ice:

-Intense Face of the Night: Chicago's Tomas Kopecky:

-Blues defenseman Roman Polak, who suffered a severed tendon when Sidney Crosby's skate laceratted his wrist Oct. 23, was taken off injured reserve. Also, the Blues placed forward Dave Scatchard (knee) on injured reserve, demoted defenseman Ian Cole to Peoria of the AHL while forward Adam Cracknell was recalled from Peoria.

Northwest Division

-Craig Anderson made 27 saves for the Avalanche in a 3-2 defeat of the Canadiens. Ryan O'Reilly had two assists for Colorado which has won six consecutive games.

-Colorado's John-Michael Liles kept his eyes on this puck:

-Anderson had issues with this puck. We suspect Montreal's Mathieu Darche didn't:

-Avalanche forward Paul Stastny returned to the lineup after missing one game due to a back injury.

-Colorado defenseman Kyle Quincey will miss the rest of the season due shoulder surgery.

-The Wild recalled defenseman defenseman Marco Scandella from Houston of the AHL.

Pacific Division

-An overtime goal and two assists by Loui Eriksson gave the Stars a 4-3 win at Detroit. Captain Brenden Morrow scored two goals for Dallas while teammate Jamie Benn recorded two assists. Andrew Raycroft made 28 saves in the victory. Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen each had a goal and an assist for the Red Wings.

-The Kings demoted forward and Pittsburgh native John Zeiler to Manchester of the AHL.

Smythe Division

-Former Red Wings/Blackhawks/Panthers/Maple Leafs/Blue Jackets/Flames/Coyotes/Rangers defenseman Anders Eriksson joined MODO of the Elitserien in Sweden.

-A goal and an assist by Adam Brace led the Robert Morris men's team to a 3-1 defeat of Colgate.
