Join me Sunday 12/5 for a free gardening/cooking demo

Written by Doug Oster on .

Every month I do a free gardening and cooking demonstration at all three Giant Eagle Market District stores. I'm joined by my radio partner Jessica Walliser and we have so much fun talking gardening and preparing three dishes that you get to taste.

This Sunday we'll present "Tips for making your holidays Greener" for December.  We will cover how to take care of Christmas greens and plants, as well as good 'green' gifts
for gardeners.

Then we'll cook Sausage and Cornbread Stuffing, Grilled Pork Tenderloins with Spiced Orange Sauce and desert is Fig Tarlets.

We'll be at the Bethel Park store at 10am, the Robinson Store at 1pm and 4pm at the Shadyside store.

Here are two things I'll be talking about as gifts for gardeners-

PotLifter-grnPOT-081010-367x570I love the Pot Lifter; it's made moving all my big pots in, out and around the garden. I'll have one with me on Sunday for people to try out. Not only does it work great for pots, you can move big shrubs and other awkward objects. My wife and I used it together without killing each other! The pot lifter is under $30 and it's made my life in the garden easier.

Atlas Garden Gloves are cheap but sturdy and are thin enough to let gardeners get a feel for what they are working with. I wear the 360s's, they are a great stocking stuffer.

accusharp-01-800x600I've been using AccuSharp for 20 years to sharpen knives and tools and it's a great tool. I use my grandparent's old tools and keeping them sharp makes them easier to use and they last longer. Under $10 and lasts for decades.

Hope to see you Sunday, and by the way you can listen to us every Sunday morning at 7am on KDKA radio.
