-Andrew Lord and David Urquart each had a goal and two assists for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-4 loss to the Greenville Road Warriors.

-Former Penguins forward Matt Murley has joined Timra of the Elitserien in Sweden.

-Happy 48th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Gilbert Delorme (right). A free agent signing in the 1989 season, Delorme's Penguins career amounted to 54 games and 10 points in 1989-90. After suffering a broken leg in in the 1990 offseason, he missed the entire 1990-91 season and spent all of 1991-92 with the Penguins' IHL affiliate in Muskegon. He was released in the 1992 offseason.

-Happy 45th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Jeff Norton. A free agent signing in the 2000 offseason, Norton's Penguins career amounted to 32 games and 12 points in 2000-01. At the 2001 trade deadline, he was traded to the Sharks in exchange for Bobby Dollas and Johan Hedberg.

Atlantic Division

-Daniel Briere, Ville Leino and Andreas Nodl each had a goal and an assist for the Wild in a  6-1 win at Minnesota. Sergei Bobrovsky made 15 saves in the victory.

-Philadelphia's Kimmo Timonen blew up a piece of glass with a dump in:

-Ilya Kovalchuk's shootout goal gave the Devils a 2-1 win against the Flames. Former Penguins goaltender Johan Hedberg made 25 saves in the victory. Fire Craig Patrick.

-It wasn't all bad for Calgary. Check out this save by Erik Karlsson:

-The Devils have their first two-game winning streak of the season.

-The last time Kovalchuk had a chance in a shootout, he failed to even get a shot off.

-Islanders defenseman Mike Mottau is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks due to an eye injury.

-The Islanders demoted forward Josh Bailey to Bridgeport of the AHL.

Northeast Division

-Former Penguin Mark Recchi scored two goals for the Bruins in a 3-1 win at Florida. Recchi's second goal was the 1,500th point of his NHL career. Fire Ray Shero. Teammate David Krejci recorded two assists while Tim Thomas made 31 saves in the victory.

-A goal and an assist by Andrei Kostitsyn led the Canadiens to a 4-1 defeat of the Kings. Carey Price made 24 saves in the victory.

-Canadiens defenseman and former Penguin Hal Gill apparently cares not for the vision of Los Angeles' Ryan Smyth:

-Sabres defenseman and Pittsburgh Cranberry native Mike Weber played for the first time in 12 games.
Southeast Division

-Steve Downie had a goal and two assists for the Lightning in a 3-2 win against the Rangers. Former Penguin Ryan Malone scored two goals while teammates Steve Downie, Teddy Purcell and Martin St. Louis each recorded two assists. Fire Ray Shero. Mike Smith made 18 saves in the victory. Derek Stepan led New York with a goal and an assist.

-Two goals by Nicklas Backstrom helped the Capitals win at Carolina, 3-2. Captain Alex Ovechkin added three assists for Washington while Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves in the victory. The win snapped a three-game losing streak.

-Capitals forward and former Penguin Matt Bradley had issues with Carolina's Troy Bodie:

-Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little each had a goal and an assist for the Thrashers in a 5-1 rout of the Red Wings. Ondrej Pavelec made 32 saves in the victory.

-With defenseman Mike Green dealing with an undisclosed jersey, the Capitals recalled defenseman Brian Fahey from Hershey of the AHL.

-Panthers forward David Booth (right) is finally healthy but he's having trouble finding the back of the net.

-Florida defenseman Bryan Allen is dealing with a broken foot.

-The Panthers placed forwards Steve Bernier (face) and Rostislav Olesz (finger) on injured reserve and recalled defensemen Keaton Ellerby and Joe Callahan from Rochester of the AHL.

Central Division

-Jakub Voracek's overtime goal gave the Blue Jackets a 4-3 win against the Islanders. R.J Umberger and Antoine Vermette each had a goal and an assist for Columbus while teammate Kris Russell recorded two assists. Former Penguin Mathieu Garon made 21 saves in the victory. Fire Ray Shero. Michael Grabner and Trent Hunter each contributed a goal and an assist for New York which has lost 14 consecutive games.

-Blue Jackets forward Nikita Filatov was benched last night for disciplinary reasons.

-Andy McDonald's shootout goal gave the Blues a 2-1 win at Nashville. Jaroslav Halak made 29 saves in the victory.

-The Blue Jackets officially unveiled their new "original" blue third jersey:

-Rant: On the surface, this is a good jersey. But it's blue. And the NHL now has 12 teams - Penguins, Rangers, Maple Leafs, Sabres, Panthers, Lightning,  Blue Jackets, Blues, Blue Jackets, Oilers, Canucks, Avalanche - with a blue third jersey. That doesn't even include the blue jersey the Thrashers came up with a few seasons ago and adopted as their regular home jersey. Why doesn't the league just market North Carolina Tarheels gear?

-The new logo is pretty cool though:

-The Blues activated defenseman Barret Jackman (knee) from injured reserve.

Northwest Division

-Alex Burrows and Daniel Sedin each had a goal and an assist for the Canucks in a 4-2 defeat of the Avalanche. Henrik Sedin added two assists for Vancouver while Roberto Luongo made 21 saves in the victory which snapped four-game scoring streak. John-Michael Liles led Colorado with a goal and an assist.

-Avalanche goaltender Craig Anderson (groin) and captain Adam Foote (knee) each left the game in the first period.

Pacific Division

-Andrew Raycroft made 18 saves for the Stars in a 2-1 win at Ottawa. Dallas snapped a four-game road losing streak.

-Antti Niemi made 30 saves and led the Sharks to a 5-2 win against his former team, the Blackhawks. Patrick Marleau scored two goals for San Jose while teammate Joe Pavelski added a goal and an assist.
