Today, we look at the Penguins' 6-4 win against the Jets, Nov. 14, 1990.
The Penguins continued their road trip with a game at the Winnipeg Arena in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It took the Penguins all of 55 seconds to claim a 1-0 lead when left winger Kevin Stevens beat goaltender Stephane Beauregard. Assists when to center John Cullen and right winger Mark Recchi.
Less than a minute later at 1:48, left winger Bob Errey made it 2-0 off assists from right winger Rob Brown and Joe Mullen.
At 5:46, left winger Phil Bourque made it 3-0 on a two-on-one with defenseman Paul Coffey. Assists went to Coffey and right winger Tony Tanti.
The Jets finally got on the board and made it 3-1 on a power play at 8:36 when right winger Pat Elyniuk scored on goaltender Tom Barrasso with a slap shot. Defenseman Phil Housley and center Ed Olcyzk recorded assists.
At 7:35 of the second, right winger Danton Cole made it 4-2 with a wrister with beat Barrasso on the stick side. Assists were credited to Olczyk and defenseman Fredrik Olausson.
Exactly seven minutes later, right winger Jaromir Jagr scored the eventual game-winner on a power play by re-directing a shot by Coffey. Assists when to Coffey and defenseman Zarley Zalapski.
Late in the period at 19:33, Recchi scored his 10th goal of the season with a wrist shot from the right circle with Cullen and Stevens getting assists.
At 13:51, The Jets narrowed the lead to 5-3 off a goal by Elyniuk. Center Thomas Steen and and Housley were credited with assists.
Bourque accounted for the the Penguins' sixth goal when he beat goaltender Bob Essensa. The goal was unassisted.
Late in the game, Housley scored on a power play off assists from Olausson and Steen.
-Barrasso made 42 saves to earn the win.
-The three stars were 1.) Barrasso 2.) Elyniuk 3.) Recchi.
-Cullen left the game in the third period due to a strained abdominal muscle. Cullen led the NHL in points with 39.
-Injuries to defensemen Jim Johnson (back) and Randy Hillier (foot) forced the Penguins to play with only five defensemen: Coffey, Zalapski, Chris Dahlquist, Gordie Roberts and Paul Stanton.
-A sign in the stands read "John Cullen 1990-91 Art Ross Trophy Winner. Ha Ha Gretzky."
-Jagr's entry to Canada hit a snag when he left his work visa at home. When asked for his identification at the board, the native of Czechoslovakia presented his ATM card. Jagr and assistant coach Rick Paterson then spent 45 minutes with customs officials in order to get clearance to enter the country.

-Pirates pitcher Doug Drabek was awarded the National League Cy Young Award. He joined Vernon Law as the only Pirate to win the award. Drabek had a 22-6 record during the 1990 season.
-Racehorse Alydar, runner up in the 1978 Triple Crown series to Affirmed, was destroyed after breaking a leg in Lexington, Ky.
-The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed legislation which would replace the electric chair with lethal injection as the state's method of execution.
