The Penguins demoted forward Eric Tangradi (right) and defenseman Andrew Hutchington to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
Tangradi, 21, has two points (one goal, one assist) and is a minus-1 in nine games.
Hutchinson, 30, has one assist and was a minus-3 in five games. Hutchinson was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Oct. 12.
EN Says: This isn't surprising. With Brooks Orpik returning and Arron Asham on the verge of returning, the Penguins needed to send someone to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Some folks might be upset by Tangradi's demotion, but in addition to having a two-way contract, he could still use some further development in order to become a top-six power forward in the NHL. And playing fourth-line minutes at any level isn't going to help him in that regard. Playing top-six minutes at the AHL level will be of greater benefit.
Hutchinson was simply a warm body to put in the lineup while Orpik and Zbynek Michalek were/are on the mend. He'll probably get recalled again should any other injuries ravage the defense.
