-Happy 60th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Dale Tallon. Acquired early in the 1978-79 season in a deal which sent a draft pick to the Blackhawks, Tallon the final two seasons of his 10-year NHL career in Pittsburgh. In 1978-79, Tallon appeared in 63 games and scored 29 points. Finally, in 1979-80, Tallon was limited to 32 games and 14 points in the regular season and eventually saw action in four postseason games failing to record a point. He was released in the 1980 offseason. In 95 regular season games for the Penguins, Tallon 43 points. He is currently the general manager for the Panthers. .

Atlantic Division

-John Tavares had an overtime goal and an assist to lead the Islanders to a 2-1 win against the Maple Leafs. Dwayne Roloson made 29 saves in the victory.

Southeast Division

-A goal and two assists from Steven Stamkos led the Lightning to a 5-4 win against the Stars. Former Penguin Dominic Moore added two goals for Tampa Bay while teammate Steve Downie added a goal and an assist. Fire Ray Shero. Mike Smith made 15 saves in the victory. Brenden Morrow had a goal and an assist.

-Lightning captain Vincent Levalier is dealing with a hand injury.

-Eleven days after collapsing on the ice during a game, Thrashers goaltender Ondrej Pavelec was medically cleared to resume practicing.

-Panthers goaltender Tomas Vokoun is off to a hot start.

-With defenseman Jason Garrison dealing with a groin injury, the Panthers placed forward Kenndal McArdle on waivers and recalled defenseman Keaton Ellerby from Rochester of the AHL.

Central Divison

-Patrick Sharp's overtime goal gave the Blackhawks a 3-2 win against the rival Blues. Teammate and former Penguin Marian Hossa scored two goals while Marty Turco made 32 saves in the win. David Perron led St. Louis with two goals.

-The Predators recalled defenseman Nick Spaling from Milwaukee of the AHL.

Northwest Division

-Two goals from Chris Stewart helped the Avalanche claim a 3-1 win against the Rangers. Teammate Milan Hejduk added two assists while Craig Anderson made 31 saves in the victory.

-Oilers defenseman Tom Gilbert was fined $2,500 for hitting Calgary forward Matt Stajan Saturday.

Pacific Division

-Coyotes captain Shane Doan was suspended three games for a hit to the head of Ducks forward Dan Sexton Sunday.

-Ducks rookie defenseman Cam Fowler is dealing with a broken nose.

Adams Division

-Former Mighty Ducks/Bruins forward Petr Tenkrat has joined Kärpät in the SM-liiga in Finland.

-Today would've been the 110th birthday of Hockey Hall of Famer Roy Worters, a goaltender with the NHL's Pittsburgh Pirates.
