-Patrick Killeen made 33 saves and led the Wheeling Nailers to a 6-0 shutout of the Toledo Walleye. Alexander Smigelski had two goals and an assist.

Atlantic Division

-Two goals and an assist from Milan Jurcina (above) led the Islanders to a 5-2 defeat of the Avalanche. Josh Bailey added a goal and an assist for New York while teammate P.A. Parenteau recorded two assists. Dwayne Roloson made 28 saves in the win.

-New York's Zenon Konopka and Colorado's Chris Stewart had issues:

-Islanders forward John Tavares returned to the lineup after missing three games due to a concussion.

-"Stuff like that can't be done in a game. Kids being able to see that is not a good role model-situation for myself." - Islanders defenseman James Wisniewski on his lewd hand gesture towards Rangers forward Sean Avery last week which led to a two-game suspension.

-At 1-4-1, the Devils are off to their worst start in 27 years.

Northeast Division

-Tim Thomas made 31 saves and led the Bruins to a 4-1 win at New Jersey.

-Happy times for Boston's Gregory Campbell and Shawn Thornton:

-New Jersey's Martin Brodeur kept his eyes on this puck:

-Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Kostitsyn each had a goal and an assist for the Canadiens in a 4-3 win against the rival Senators. Carey Price was forced to make all of 16 saves in the victory. Milan Michalek led Ottawa with two goals.

Southeast Division

-Tomas Vokoun made 29 saves to earn his second consecutive shutout, a 6-0 defeat of the rival Lightning. David Booth led Florida with two goals and an assist while captain Bryan McCabe recorded four assists.

-Happy times in Florida:

-And overtime goal and an assist by Brooks Laich gave the Capitals a comeback 3-2 win at Nashville. Teammate Nicklas Backstrom added two assists while Michal Neuvirth made 37 saves in the victory.

-Happy times for Nashville's Jordin Tootoo:

-Predators forward Marcel Goc left the game with an "upper-body" injury after he was hit from behind by Washington Nicklas Backstrom.

-A goal and an assist by Andrew Ladd led the Thrashers to a 4-2 win at San Jose. Teammate Bryan Little added two assists while Chris Mason made 37 saves in the victory.

-The Hurricanes recalled defenseman Brett Carson from the Charlotte of the AHL.

Central Division

-Two goals by Patrick Sharp led the Blackhawks to a 4-3 win against the Sabres. Teammate Patrick Kane and Brent Seabrook each added two assists while Marty Turco (above, with Sharp) made 38 saves in the victory.

-Niklas Kronwall's overtime goal gave the Red Wings a 2-1 win at Phoenix. Teammate Henrik Zetterberg added two assists while Jimmy Howard made 25 saves in the victory.

-Phoenix's Ilya Brzygalov alone in the dark:

-Two assists from Chris Clark helped the Blue Jackets claim a 3-2 win at Minnesota. Former Penguin Mathieu Garon made 21 saves in the victory. Fire Ray Shero. Matt Cullen and Martin Havlat each had two assists for the Wild.

-With defensemen Anton Stralman ("upper body") and Mike Commodore (thumb) dinged up, the Blue Jackets recalled former Penguins defenseman and Hopewell native Nate Guenin from Springfield of the AHL. Additionally the team placed forward Jared Boll (back) on injured reserve.

-Red Wings forward Johan Franzen was officially diagnosed with a mild concussion.

Northwest Division

-Alex Tanguay had two goals and an assist for the Flames in a 5-3 defeat of the rival Oilers. Matt Stajan added three assists while teammate Brendan Morrison and Jarome Iginla each recorded a goal and an assist. Miikka Kiprusoff (above) made 41 saves in the victory. Magnus Paajarvi led Edmonon with with a goal and an assist.

-Edmonton's Nikolai Khabibulin had issues with this puck:

-Edmonton's Dustin Penner scored a goal by banking a puck off the face of Calgary's Ian White:

-White actually needed six stiches after getting hit by the puck.

-Canucks defenseman Keith Ballard was officially diagnosed with a concussion.

-The Wild had a consecutive sell-out streak of 383 games snapped.

Pacific Division

-Shootout goals by Brad Richards, Loui Eriksson and Mike Ribeiro gave the Stars a 3-2 win against the Blues. Eriksson and Neal each had a goal and an assist in regulation while Richards recorded two assists. Kari Lehtonen (above) made 41 saves in the victory.

-It wasn't all bad for the Blues. Check out this ridiculous save former Penguins goaltender Ty Conklin made:

-Fire Ray Shero.

-The Sharks signed captain Joe Thornton to a three-year contract extension worth $21 million. Thornton, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, will have a salary cap hit of $7 million.

-With defenseman Andreas Lilja getting a new work visa, the Ducks demoted defenseman Luca Sbisa to Syracuse of the AHL.

-Fabian Brunnstrom cleared waivers and was demoted to Texas of the AHL.

-Former Penguins prospect Jake Muzzin (right) is fitting in with the Kings. Fire Ray Shero.

Smythe Division

-Both Robert Morris teams are in action tonight at Consol Energy Center.

-Jordan Tibbett made 39 saves for the Mercyhurst men's team in a 1-0 loss to Western Michigan.

-Brianna Delaney  had two goals for the Robert Morris women's team in a 6-4 loss to Northeastern.

-Hillary Pattenden made 27 saves for the Mercyhurst women's team in a 5-3 loss at Bemidji State.

-Happy 81st birthday to former Pittsburgh Hornets forward Bo Elik.
