Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek (right) will be sidelined two to four weeks due to what the team is officially labeling as an "upper body" injury. Michalek appeared to injury his right shoulder Monday in New Jersey when he was hit into the boards by Devils forward Rod Pelley.
Michalek, one of the biggest free agent signings this past offseason, has appeared in three games this season. He has recorded one assist and is a minus-3.
In other Penguins news:
-Sidney Crosby and Maxime Talbot skipped practice today due to take what were called a maitenence day. Brooks Orpik also skipped due to his groin ailment.
-Arron Asham's "upper body" ailment is expected to keep him sidelined at least another two weeks.
-Brent Johnson is expected to start tomorrow's game against the Islanders. Dan Bylsma would not comment on who he would start Saturday in Philadelphia.
-Prior to the team's practice, Jordan Staal (foot) and Asham each skated with strength and conditioning coach Mike Kadar. Staal wore full gear while Asham was in a track suit.
