Penguins

-The Penguins will hold a student rush promotion Wednesday against the Red Wings. Tickets will be available for $25. At least four regular season games will be available this season as well. The three definite dates are Oct. 13 - Maple Leafs, Nov. 17 - Canucks and Dec. 15 -  Rangers).

-Thinking Out Loud: $25 for Student Rush? It used to be $20. We guess college kids don't eat ramen noodles and Doritos these days.

-The Pensblog contemplates a change in goal songs.

Northeast Division

-Senators defenseman Filip Kuba (right) will be sidelined for five to six weeks due to a broken leg.

-Maple Leafs defenseman Jeff Finger is sidelined due to a wonky knee.

-The Bruins have a hole on the blue line with the loss of defenseman Dennis Wideman.

Southeast Division

-After using him as a right winger the past two seasons, the Thrashers are moving Bryan Little black to center.

-Even if they're fighting for the same job, Lightning goaltender Dan Ellis and Mike Smith are BFFs.

Central Division

-Blue Jackets defenseman Kris Russell will be sidelined two to four weeks due to a knee sprain.

-Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is gunning for 100 points this season.

-"I never unpack—I'm dead serious." - Blackhawks defensemean Nick Boynton who has played for five teams in just as many seasons.

-If anyone has seen the 40-goals Blues forward Brad Boyes (right) scored two seasons ago, he's looking for them. He only score 14 last season.

Pacific Division

-Stars forward Tom Wandell is dealing with a sprained shoulder.

-Ducks forward Jason Jaffray suffered a torn ACL in his right knee.
