Penguins

-How important are development camps in the age of  a salary cap?

-Penguins forward prospect Andy Bathgate (right) is still dealing with a wonky shoulder.

-Welcome to Pittsburgh (or Wilkes-Barre/Scranton) Corey Potter (PG+).

-Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Ryan Bayda joined Nuremberg in Germany.

Northeast Division

-Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov is still recovering from the severe knee injury he suffered in the playoffs.

Southeast Division

-Capitals forward Mike Knuble will be on hand for a press conference at Heinz Field regarding the Winter Classic. Presumably he'll score two goals.

-Much like the Penguins and many other teams do with their previous championships, the Lightning will put photos of their 2004 Stanley Cup winning team all over the locker room.

Pacific Division

-The Kings avoided arbitration with restricted free agent forward Brad Richardson (right) and signed him to a one-year deal worth $900,000.
