The Penguins have re-signed restricted free agent forward Chris Conner (right) to a one-year, two-way contract. He will make $550,000 at the NHL level.
Conner, 26, appeared in eight regular season games last season with the Penguins and recorded three points (two goals, one assist) as well as a minus-1.
He also appeared in one playoff game. In Game 6 of the Eastern Conference quartefinal series at Ottawa, Conner failed to score a point in 11:03 of playing time.
Conner, 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, appeared in 58 regular season games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2009-10 and was second on the team in scoring with 56 points (19 goals, 37 assists) in 59 games.
EN Says: We like watching Conner. He squeezes every bit of skill out of his small body and flies up and down the ice. He may be a little short on talent or size, but he has plenty of speed and energy.
He might not get a job with the NHL roster out of training camp, but he will certainly make who ever gets one of the available winger spots earn it.
