-The Penguins are kicking the tires on some third- and fourth-line centers.
-Happy 41st birthday to former Penguins forward John LeClair (right). An all-star with the rival Flyers, LeClair joined the Penguins as a free agent following the 2004-05 lockout. He appeared in 73 games in 2005-06 and recorded a respectable 51 points. After 21 games and seven points in 2006-07, LeClair was released in December. In 94 games with the Penguins, he scored 58 points.
-Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke marched in Toronto's Pride Parade in honor honour of his late son, Brendan Burke.
-Former Penguins defenseman Bob Boughner is expected to join the Blue Jackets as an assistant coach. He has spent the past four seasons as the head coach of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires and has won the last two Memorial Cups.
-The Oilers are expected to sign forward Taylor Hall (right), the top overall pick in this year's draft, to a three-year entry-level contract today.
-Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said unrestricted free agent forward Ilya Kovalchuk will not play for his team. At this rate, only the Yankees or BP will be able to afford him.
-Today would've been the 104th birthday of former Pittsburgh Shamrocks forward Melville "Sparky" Vail.
