Penguins
-Welcome to Pittsburgh Brett Sterling and Randy Sexton.
-Former Penguins forward Colby Armstrong (right) helped sell the Penguins to his former Thrashers teammate, Sterling.
-Happy 48th birthday to former Penguins forward Kevin McClelland. Acquired along with Pat Boutette as compesation for the Whalers' signing of Greg Millen, McClelland spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins. As a rookie in 1981-82, he appeared in 10 games and recorded five points. He also appeared in all five of the team's playoff games that spring when the Penguins nearly upset the defending Stanley Cup champion Islanders in the first round. McClelland contributed two points that series. In 1982-83 McCleland played in 38 games and scored nine points. After appearing in 24 games and scoring six points in 1983-84, McClelland and a draft pick were traded to the Oilers in exchange for Tom Roulston. In 72 games with the Penguins, McClelland scored 20 points. He is currently the head coach of the CHL's Wichita Thunder.

Atlantic Division
-Flyers assistant coach and former NHL star Adam Oates worked as a caddy for professional golfer Brett Quigley this weekend.
Northeast Division
-The Maple Leafs re-signed forward John Mitchell (right) to a one-year deal worth $725,000.
-Former Canucks defenseman Nathan McIver signed a two-year deal with the Bruins. Financial terms were not released.
Northwest Division
-Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray cleared waivers.
-The Oilers signed former Capitals forard Alexandre Giroux to a one-year deal worth $500,000.
Pacific Division
-The Coyotes re-signed goaltender Al Montoya to a one-year deal worth $750,000.
-Phoenix also signed forward Mathieu Beaudoin, defenseman Garrett Stafford, goaltender Matt Climie (all formerly of the Stars) and defenseman Nolan Yonkman (formerly of the Capitals) to one-year deals.
Smythe Division
-Today would've been the 94th birthday of former Pittsburgh Hornets forward Joe Fisher.
