Report: Penguins hire Sexton as scout - 07-03-10
According to Steve Gorten for the Florida Sun-Sentinel, former Panthers general manager Randy Sexton has joined the Penguins as a scout.
The Post-Gazette's Dave Molinari spoke to Penguins general manager Ray Shero who said the move is "not finalized."
Sexton served as the Panthers' general manager in some capcity from June 10, 2009 until he was replaced by former Penguins defenseman Dale Tallon May 17, 2010. Sexton had been a member of the Panthers in other capacities since January of 2007.
Previous to that, Sexton had served the expansion Ottawa Senators from their inception in 1988 until 1996 as the club’s president, chief executive officer and general manager. Shero served as an assistant general manager in Ottawa under Sexton from 1993 through 1996.
UPDATE: Sexton will serve as the assistant director of amateur scouting.
