-The Panthers signed former Flames forward Christopher Higgins to a one-year deal worth $1.6 million. The team also signed former Penguins forward Bill Thomas and former Predators forward Triston Grant to one-year, two-way contracts. Thomas, a Fox Chapel native, spent last season with the Springfield Falcons, Edmonton's AHL affiliate, and Lugano in Switzerland.
-The Capitals signed former Penguins goaltender Dany Sabourin (right) to a one-year, two-way contract. Sabourin spent last season with the Providence Bruins, Boston's AHL affiliate.

-The Lightning signed forward Niklas Persson to a one-year, two-way contract. He spent last season in the KHL.
-The Thrashers signed former Flyers/Rangers defenseman Mike Siklenka. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Siklenka palyed last season with EC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.
-The Blues Jackets signed former Penguins defenseman Nate Guenin (right) and forward Kyle Wilson and re-signed Trevor Frischmon to one-year, two-way contracts. Guenin is a native of Hopewell.
-The Blues re-signed forward Brad Winchester to a one-year deal worth $700,000.
-Former Penguins forward Chris Minard and former Maple Leafs goaltender Joey MacDonald signed with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings' AHL affiliate.
-Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith will serve as a grand marshall of a NASCAR race this weekend.
-The Wild signed former Stars forward Warren Peters (two years) and former Kings defenseman Drew Bagnall (one year) to two-way contracts.
-The Oilers put defenseman Sheldon Souray (right) on waivers.
-Edmonton re-signed defenseman Jason Strudwick and signed defenseman Richard Petiot to one-year deals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
-The Oilers also re-signed enforcer Steve MacIntyre to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
-Flames forward Daymond Langkow is still recovering from a neck injury he suffered in March.
-Calgary signed former Islanders forward Tim Jackman to a two-year deal worth a total of $1.1 million. He will have a salary cap hit of $550,000.
-The Avalanche re-signed defenseman Kyle Quincey to a two-year contract worth a total of 6.25 million and signed former Coyotes forward Daniel Winnik to a two-year contract worth a total of $1.9 million. Quincey will have a salary cap hit of $3.125 while Winnik (right) will be $950,000.
-Colorado also signed former Blues forward Julian Talbot, former Islanders forward Greg Mauldin, former Flames forward David Van Der Gulik and former Blue Jackets defenseman David Liffiton, former Blues goaltender Jason Bacashihua and re-signed goaltender John Grahame to one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
-The Coyotes re-signed goaltender Al Montoya and signed former Wild forward Andrew Ebbett to one-year deals.
-The Ducks signed former Islanders forward Trevor Smith to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
-The Stars will hold part of their training camp on Prince Edward Island.
