The city has a bad solution to another crisis
Regarding "Parking Rates May Soar Under Lease Plan: Ravenstahl Unveils Proposal to Rescue City Pension Fund" (July 1): Why is it that every time the city needs money for something, the mayor (whoever is at the helm at the time) wants to increase parking rates to generate revenue?
I am a commuter and I just started a new job that I love. Sadly, I may not be able to stay with it long term if I can't afford the commute because of an increased parking rate (the rate is already excessive!).
Seriously, can't the city government come up with something more creative to fix whatever the "current" crisis is? Through increased taxes here or increased rates there that impact all of us, why do we the people have to continue to bail out the idiots making bonehead decisions affecting matters like the pension fund?
