More innovation

on

I've been thinking about the old Civic Arena. We could knock it down, do some street relief for the Hill and build square buildings on the grid of land we would create. Just like everywhere does.

Or, we could remember that Pittsburgh is a city of firsts: first gas station, first publicly supported television station, first user of pull-top cans, first baseball stadium, developer of the Big Mac, first baseball World Series, first air brake ...

Let's do something unique and attention-getting. Right now I like the idea of an urban farm producing fresh vegetables and maybe fruit for sale to the folks on the Hill and the growing loft population. It's green, it has immediate benefits for health, and it's innovative and somehow uniquely a Pittsburgh kind of thing.
