The Ducks are taking on a decided Finnish feel to them now.
Anaheim re-signed forward Saku Koivu (right) to a two-year contract worth a total of $5 million. Last season Koivu, 35, appeared in 71 games and recorded 52 points (19 goals, 33 assists) and was a plus 14.
The Ducks also signed former Sabres defenseman Toni Lydman to a three-year deal worth a total of $9 million. Last season with Buffalo, Lydman appeared in 67 games, recorded 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) and was a plus-10.
EN Says: We're a little skeptical of these moves. Both players are on the wrong side of 30. And the Ducks are a re-building team. They need to get younger. Perhaps they felt bringing these guys back will help coax Finnish legend Teemu Selanne back for one more season, but these moves just don't seem to be in line with that the Ducks need.
