The Lightning has signed former Predators goaltender Dan Ellis a two-year deal worth $1.5 million a season.
Ellis, 30, appeared in 31 games last season with the Predators and had a record of 15-13-1 with a goals against average of 2.69, a save percentage of .909 and one shutout.
Ellis' signing rights were acquired by the Canadiens earlier this week.
EN Says: Nice move for the Lightning. With starting goaltender Mike Smith's health always an issue seemingly, they bring in a reliable back up who can step in and put his team in a position to win game most nights. Ellis and and Smith will create some healthy competition for playing time next season.
