Martin wanted 'change' - 07-01-10

Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger spoke to former Devils/new Penguins defenseman Paul Martin on his move today.

Said Martin on the move:

"A lot of it came down to me looking for a change. It was time for me to move on. I'm ready for a different challenge."

On the Penguins' system:

"With (Pittsburgh's) system, I'll get more of a chance to make a difference. And Pittsburgh gives me a chance to win now."

On his five-year deal worth $25 million:

"I don't think it was as much about money. All of the offers were pretty similar," Martin said. "This is a good foot for me."
