Penguins select RW Rust in third round - 06-26-10

With their third-round pick today (No. 80 overall), the Penguins selected right wing Bryan Rust from the United States Development Team.

In 27 games last season, Rust, 6-foot-1, 191 pounds, recorded 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) and a plus-14. He also scored four game-winning goals. A member of last seasons' World Junior Championship gold medal-winning squad, Rush has signed a letter of intent to play with Notre Dame.

He is a native of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. His older brother, Matt, plays at Michigan and was a fourth-round pick of the Panthers in 2007.
