Many follow rules

on

Until immigration laws are reformed, people who came (or are coming) into the country while avoiding immigration are "illegal," "undocumented" -- whatever you want to call them. As nice and sweet and helpful as many of these people are, they have still chosen to break into our "home" -- illegally.

This country does have a policy. Ask any first-generation Greek friends, Albanian friends or Indian friends. Some wait years to come here legally; some are not permitted to come here at all (i.e., Albanians who joined the Communist Party in 1962 so they would be allowed to work in their homelands). In many cases, people are not allowed to immigrate here unless citizen-relatives are willing to guarantee that these potential citizens will never be on the dole. Many citizen-relatives spend thousands of dollars to bring their relatives here. What are they -- fools?

And if you know anything about immigration policy at all, this country is not looking for uneducated laborers; it is looking for brains -- since while so many people in the United States have been trying to take care of the world, we have allowed our primary education system to slide until way too many of our high school graduates can't speak, read or write English; can't do simple math or have very limited problem-solving and reasoning skills.
