Duquesne women get WPIAL recruit

The Duquesne University womens basketball team got a WPIAL recruit a few days ago when Baldwin junior Belma Nurkic made a verbal commitment to Dukes coach Suzie McConnell Serio.

Nurkic is a 5-foot-9 junior guard who averaged 19 points a game last year as a sophomore. She was also a starter as a freshman.

"They want me as a shooting guard," Nurkic said. "Suzie told me the other day she needs someone to score."

Duquesne offered Nurkic a scholarship as a freshman.
