Penguins re-sign Lovejoy - 06-21-10

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

The Penguins have re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Ben Lovejoy (right) to a three-year deal. The first seasons of the contract is a two-way deal. The final two seasons are one-way.

In 12 NHL games last season, Lovejoy recorded three assists. He appeared in 65 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and scored 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists).

Orginially a free-agent signing in the 2007 offseason, Lovejoy has spent the past three seasons with the Penguins organization.

EN Says: Nice move. Lovejoy is a solid all-around talent who offers something in just about every area on the ice. At 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, Lovejoy brings a nice combination of size and intelligence.

While he is signed to a two-way deal, we full expect to see him start the season on the NHL roster next season.

Note: As has been suspected for the better part of a month, the Penguins will host the rival Flyers in the first regular season game at Consol Energy Center.
