No more excuses

Written by Susan Mannella on .

As time has gone on we see a president who blames everyone else but himself, a Democratic Party that is about politics and votes and not what's good for our country. The sad part is we are seeing it when it should be about saving jobs, business and ocean life. Where was the federal government when this oil spill happened?

Why, Mr. President, are you continuing to blame BP instead of doing something about this terrible problem? There are skimmer machines offered by the Dutch, there is a company with those same skimmers (Allegiance Capital Corp.) which has tried to help out but is getting nothing but government red tape because of the Jones Act from the 1920s, which says you can use only U.S.-flagged vessels. You, Mr. President, could have waived this act while this emergency is going on, but you haven't.

Is this a way of getting the cap-and-trade bill through? Blaming BP and telling us this is the reason behind the bill? Shouldn't this be about saving jobs, wild life and the ocean -- and not about some bill that will create more unemployment and raise our utility bills?

Yes, Mr. President, it's time for change. Let's get back to the Constitution and not left-wing socialist ideas that do nothing but spend money we don't have.
