Penguins re-sign Wagner - 06-14-10

The Penguins have re-signed defenseman Steve Wagner (above) to a one-year two-way contract.
In 20 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season, he scored seven points (one goal, six assists) and had an even plus/minus. Overall, in 66 AHL games split between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Peoria, Wagner scored 22 points (four goals, 18 assists) and was a minus-9.
Wagner was acquired in mid-February in a deal which sent defenseman Nate Guenin to the Blues.
EN Says: Don't get too excited about this move. Wagner, 26, is a career "tweener." In other words, he has bounced between the AHL and NHL most of his career. The only way he sees regular time on the Penguins' NHL roster is if someone is injured.
