The PG's bad call
The Post-Gazette made the wrong choice in endorsing Dan Onorato as the Democratic nominee for governor (May 9 editorial). Endorsing Mr. Onorato is essentially asking for a third term of Gov. Ed Rendell. After all, we all know that Mr. Onorato is Gov. Rendell's chosen candidate in the race for governor.
At a time when our personal budgets are squeezed with no room for new taxes, your endorsement failed to mention that Mr. Onorato is responsible for the largest tax increase in Allegheny County's history.
At a time when 582,000 Pennsylvanians are unemployed, you failed to mention that Allegheny County has lost 6,100 jobs from January 2004, when Mr. Onorato took office, to March 2010 -- more than 1,000 jobs each year. During that same period, Pennsylvania gained 27,000 jobs.
If you want to reform state government, Jack Wagner is the right choice for governor.
