Educational breadth

Regarding "White House Event Boosts Science, Math" (May 12): Whatever happened to the humanities? You know, reading, writing, creating, thinking?

Do we not still need art and music and literature to lift our souls up to such glorious heights as to make our hearts ache with joy, or philosophy to know how to think analytically and rationally, and not through pure emotion which distorts the truth? Apparently not.

What beauty we are missing. How withered are our souls.
