The judicial twist
Why columnist Charles Krauthammer keeps pounding on Miranda rights is puzzling ("For Safety's Sake, Forgo Miranda Until We Have All the Information," May 8; "Modernizing Miranda: A New Consensus?" May 15).
He simply needs to ask his buddy, John Roberts, U.S. Supreme Court chief justice, to use any case -- such as the one he used to elbow corporations to buy judges, senators and congresspeople -- to eliminate Miranda rights.
Chief Justice Roberts could use a case such as an unrelated suit against an investment company to achieve this end.
Such a tactic would not, of course, be the result of an activist court. Only liberal judges can be activists as the perpetual conservative infomercial (Fox News) repeatedly informs us.
