Live and let live
Liberals, progressives, professors, et al., even the Post-Gazette, tell us less of something we enjoy is better for us; ketchup is just ketchup, but in Pittsburgh it is Heinz ketchup.
"The question is whether they will like it as well with less salt, which is a more healthy choice," says the PG (May 16 Asides). Who is the Post-Gazette to say less salt is a more healthy choice? Throughout history salt has been used as a preservative to keep people healthier. Doctors noted the benefits of salt and used salt in therapies to help heal. People on low-salt diets have had four times as many hearts attacks as those on normal sodium diets.
No sooner do they tell us less of something is better for us than we find that the solution proposed to replace what is bad for us is going to kill us faster than what it replaced. And these strategies to "save" us do something to limit "choice," i.e., butter. The "scientists" say some quality of butter is bad for our health. Margarine is invented and soon afterward a study comes out that the qualities of margarine are killing us faster than butter.
Do everything in moderation and celebrate life. We are all going to die someday. Let no one tell you otherwise. Enjoy life and let others enjoy theirs also.
