Disturbing devices

Thank you for printing "Ban Leaf Blowers" (May 12 Perspectives) by Marcia Barr and Janet Aronson. I couldn't agree more: These obnoxious devices degrade our health and the quality of life in our city.

As I write this letter, shortly after 8 a.m., a blower a few houses away destroys the peace of the morning and its toxic emissions foul the air.

As Ms. Barr and Ms. Aronson remind us, there are better alternatives; a ban is in order.
