Little girl safe
I am writing in response to Ruth Ann Dailey's May 17 column ("In a Tragedy's Wake, Respect the Unknowns"), which mentioned the 4-year-old girl who was found wandering along McKnight Road after her father had fallen asleep in their nearby apartment. Reading it brought me to tears.
I am the administrator at the Reformed Presbyterian Home and I have observed this little girl's mother, Christiane Ugiranyina, take care of our residents on a daily basis. She is a very caring and compassionate nurse's aide. She loves her children passionately and has spoken about what a good father her husband is.
It would be a real travesty of justice if anything were to happen as a result of this little girl getting away from her home that would take these children away from their parents. I had four very active little girls and know the close calls that occurred when they were growing up under my care.
