Dems value illegals' electoral potential
The poet Stephen Spender wrote that when he went to Spain during the 1936-39 civil war, he realized that unless he cared about children murdered by either side, he didn't care about murdered children.
The liberals and progressives in Congress don't care a whole lot about the plight of Mexican illegals. They value them solely for their electoral potential -- think "undocumented Democrats."
What's more, they recognize only one set of victims in Arizona: the illegals. Coldly, they turn a blind eye on the existential reality faced by the citizens of Arizona (including its large Hispanic minority), who live under the daily threat of robbery, extortion, kidnapping and murder.
And what about that standing ovation accorded President Felipe Calderon of Mexico by congressional Democrats? It was a disgusting display of synthetic and one-sided compassion, the only kind of compassion in the emotional repertoire of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid axis.
The politically motivated attempt to punish Arizona for its new immigration law has aroused the latent common sense and decency of the people, including millions of rank-and-file Democrats.
Sarah Palin gives focus to their anger when she says, "It is time for Americans across this great country to stand up and say, 'We're all Arizonans now!' "
