Gifts Happen

Written by Doug Oster on .

gifts_happenWhen I walked into the lunch meeting of the City Farmers one of the first things handed to me was this bag of composted horse manure.
Now some people might consider that an insult, but this was a great compliment for me. John Ham, who ran the meeting, turns his pile with a front end loader to produce this rich compost and nothing could be better for garden plants.

It's just one of those funny things that only gardeners could appreciate. Even more exciting is that John gives away this great stuff and offered me a truck load. I've got a feeling I'll be back up there soon, you just can't have enough of this stuff.

He offers material from a pile that's one year old so there's no chance of it being too hot or contaminated with harmful bacteria.

It's truly the gift that keeps giving.
